JOURNAL WITH ME
Bible Verses and Prayer
Is this your season? Get ready for the future with the understanding there is a time for everything.
Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 & 15 – New International VersionThere is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.Whatever has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account.
Prayer: Dear Lord, show us Your glory. Help us to endure the times ahead. Give us the appropriate wisdom and understanding to feel Your presence. Forgive us of our sins that are ahead of us and behind us. Let Thy Will be done on earth. Amen.
Romans 8:26-27 – New International VersionIn the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people following the will of God.Prayer: Heavenly Father, when I am at peace with calm and thanksgiving in my heart, I pray the Lord’s Prayer. When asked to pray aloud, I often use the Acronym A.C.T.S. for adoration, contrition, thanksgiving, and supplication. Today, my heart is heavy as we’ve been praying for our country’s leaders, increasing crime and violence, and the spirit of anger and vengeance that we feel for one reason or another. More than one mass shooting per day has occurred in 2021. There were 148 shootings where four or more people died. We pray for the lives lost in senseless killings. In Minneapolis, the murder case against former Officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd went to the jury yesterday. We pray for peace, calm, and justice. Dear God, we continue to ask, how shall we pray? In these times, we don’t even understand what our secret hopes are. Yet, we believe You know our hearts. We ask You to hear our prayers and guide us. We search for wisdom, love, and compassion for others outside our circle of family and friends. Please help us. The deepest desires of our hearts are hidden, but we believe in You. We continue to ask for an end to the pandemic and civility among everyone in our country. Come quickly, Lord. Let Thy will be done. Amen.
Hebrews 11:1 - New International VersionNow faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.Prayer: Heavenly Father, we have confidence in Your knowing and seeing the finish of this coronavirus season. We are drained and worn from the pandemic. Our country is strained by believing in several differing democracies. Families are hurting and in need of their daily bread. Gracious Lord, please remember Your promise to love and guard us against danger. You said You would protect us from all evil and keep our souls. We have faith in You, even though we can not see the goodness ahead. Show us Your Glory. Come quickly. Amen.
Proverbs 7: 2-3 – New International Version (NIV)
Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the table of your heart.
Prayer: Lord of Lords, I try to keep your commandments and exemplify your word very hard. Renew your spirit in my heart to keep your teachings close to me. Thank you for letting me live through this pandemic. Amen.
Joshua 1:9 – New International Version (NIV)
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Prayer: Lord of Forgiveness, I am frightened. Wherever I land at the end of this pandemic storm, I want to walk with you and see your goodness and righteousness for all ahead. Thank you for being with me. Amen.

Psalm 46:1-5 - Good News Translation: God is our shelter and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not be afraid, even if the earth is shaken and mountains fall into the ocean depths; even if the violence shakes the seas roar and rage, and the hills. There is a river that brings joy to the city of God, to the sacred house of the Most High.God is in that city, and it will never be destroyed; at early dawn, He will come to its aid.
Prayer: Almighty God, we bow with praise and thanksgiving as we know You are with us. Thank You for being our shelter during this worldwide pandemic. Our country is divided and troubled. While we know we must let it be, we await Your help. Please come. Amen.
Philippians 4:6 - New Living Translation:
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Prayer: Heavenly Father, help us to leave all our anxieties to You. We are still concerned about the coronavirus and those who are ill and have lost loved ones. We stand before You with Thanksgiving and Praise. Thank You for the relief that is yet to come. Amen.
Psalm 9:9-10 - New International Version:The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lor, have never forsaken those who seek You.Prayer: Heavenly Father, we continue to call on You for a fair election, with no need for lawyers to question the outcome. We pray that You have input into the selection of the president and other officials. We ask that You steer all US citizens toward peace and acceptance as we look to You and see Your Will being done. Bless this nation. Amen.
Isaiah 41:13 - New International Version:For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.Prayer: Our beloved Savior, you are our ultimate helper when we are sad, in need, stressed, or overly exuberant. You quell our fears. Stay close to us and hold our hands tightly so they won't slip away from you. We pray for your help in dealing with the coronavirus, calming the fires, and guiding our nation's leaders. Please help us. Thank You for helping us get through each day, no matter what comes. Amen.
Ephesians 5:15-17 - New International Version:Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.Prayer: Judge of the Nations, we have let many opportunities pass by because we were not focused on You. Help us to be careful as we try to search for more opportunities amid the pandemic. We pray for restoration from this coronavirus and wisdom for the leaders of our nation. Please render us an understanding of Your will. Thank You for helping us get through each day that is filled with natural fires and ongoing protests, both that kill and destroy. Amen.
II Corinthians 9:15
New International Version:
"Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift."
Prayer: Great God, forgive me for not recognizing your great gift today. This beautiful day you have made brings me joy and happiness as I think of your lessening the coronavirus and our returning to work and school. Thank you for the gift of my life with you. Amen.
Habakkuk 1: - New International Version:
Look at the nations and watch - and be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.Prayer: Bearer of Light, I cannot assist our nation and its leaders, but I can see they need your direction. Do something they would not believe. Show your Holy Spirit is present. Thank you for blessing our leaders. Amen.
Hebrews 11:6 - New International Version (NIV)
And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Prayer: King Invisible, my faith looks to you for guidance, but my spirit may stray without your counsel. Believe that I trust in you, knowing you are my refuge in times of need. Thank you for your rewards. Amen.
